Breast Cancer Awareness Event - TONIGHT

TONIGHT at 6pm in room 407 of the Earl K. Long Library, members of the Young Breast Cancer Survivors Group will be speaking about their personal experiences with breast cancer.  Also present will be a representative from the American Cancer Society, as well as an oncologist.

Information about breast cancer will be available for those interested, including a display on the 2nd floor and free handouts throughout the library.

A special thanks to the ladies of the Young Breast Cancer Survivors Group for sharing their experiences.  I'd also like to thank the ladies of the Delta Nu Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha for their help with this event.  They will also be hosting a variety of other activities throughout next week, including a bake sale in front of the library.  So, support the cause and Think Pink!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  In honor of this, the Earl K. Long Library has a display on the 2nd floor of the library (pictures below).  We also have several handouts on the 1st and 3rd floors about breast cancer, including treatment options, preventative measures, and emotional effects.  These handouts will also be posted on this blog throughout the month and tweeted periodically (http://twitter.com/feddocs)

Later in the month, on October 19th (6pm), the library will be hosting an event (with the help of Zeta Tau Alpha).  We will have guest speakers from the area Young Breast Cancer Survivor Group.  More details will follow, but the Zetas will actually be promoting this event in front of the library during their bake sale on the 19th.

Again, feel free to stop by the library for information on breast cancer, including how to examine yourself.
