Today marks the 178th birthday of our 20th president, James Abram Garfield. President Garfield served from March 4, 1881 to September 19, 1881. He served as president for 199 days, the second shortest presidency in the United State. He was the second president to be assassinated. He was shot and fatally wounded on July 2, 1881, but he lived until September 19th. To learn more, click on these links:
