President Jimmy Carter's Birthday

Today marks the 85th birthday of our 39th president, James Earl Carter. President Carter served from 1977 to 1981 and was known as Jimmy Carter. He expanded the national park system, protecting 103 million acres of Alaskna lands. An environmentalist, he also dealt with an energy shortage by establishing a neational energy policy. Presidennt Carter's presidency, however, was overwhelmed by inflation, war in Afghanistan, and hostages in Iran. To learn more, click on these links:
