President Millard Fillmore's Birthday

Today marks the 210th birthday of our 13th president, President Millard Fillmore. President Fillmore served from 1850 to 1853 and was known as "The American Louis Philippe." He also signed the Compromise of 1850, which alienated him from his party (the Whigs) and cost him the reelection. The main cause of the alienation was the inclusion of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which stated that any federal official who did not arrest runaway slaves would have to pay a fine.
