Delaware

On December 7, 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, making it the very first state. The state legislature consists of 21 Senators and 41 Representatives.

Delaware is currently represented in Congress by Sen. Thomas Carper (D), Sen. Edward Kaufman (D), and Rep. Michael Castle (R). Christopher Coons (D) will be replacing Sen. Kaufman in 2011.


Other elected officials of Delaware include Lt. Gov. Matthew Denn (D) (his blog) and Attorney General Joseph R. Biden III (D) (aka Beau Biden).
